D2D poinsettia

Designed 2 Delight had this pretty poinsettia as a free digi this week. I have always been fascinated by blue poinsettias, and the variation of color --- it was fun to try to imitate nature with my copics. Actually I have a whole table full of poinsettias in various colorways, this is the only one that got finished into a card.

After making 10 cards a month all year, I actually don't NEED any more cards, but who could resist!

Featured Stamper

On Sundays, the folks at splitcoast choose a featured stamper and we all make cards in his or her style.  I really liked the retro look of this Christmas card: and here is the card I made in response.

Christmas cards ... and school tomorrow

I should be packing my peanut butter sandwich and heading to bed but instead I am posting the Christmas cards I made today.

I  didn't capture the stickle glitter that I hand applied to all the icicles and snowflakes --- gotta have glitz for Christmas.

What I like about these is that they are somewhat generic - the inside says "Wish I may, Wish I might ... Sure hope I don't melt tonight!"

I was pretty proud of how I used the gray copics to shade my snowman .... I mean snowcat!

Christmas Card Challenge -- May cards

The card on the right was my prototype --- then I decided that putting sticky tape on and trying to capture fine glitter was not the way to go with the snowflakes. Plus I really preferred coloring the snowmen with copics instead of marker and puff paint. So the cards on the left were the final product.

Queen card ... and more Christmas

5 more Christmas cards in the stack. They will have stickle sparkle but I wanted to scan them first.

If it's Christmas in July, it's gotta be palm trees

Click on the photo to enlarge ...

I have been playing with my Christmas palm today - Splitcoast challenges suggested using a cut out of your image at least 3 times. My first tree was just the tree cut 3 times so that wasn't quite the idea. But I like the card anyway. Next I tried using the trunk of the tree, cut out for a frame, and the top of the tree as a fanciful pointsettia. I was pretty pleased with the results. Finally a topsy turvy card with the top of the palm tree 4 times. I folded the red to see where to cut it and liked the tabs the folds created. Serendipity is the best muse!

My First Christmas cards

Inside of card

I knew I wanted to use this week's splitcoast card sketch for Christmas cards with my holiday stack -- and believe it or not I now have 4 Christmas cards made!

I also did another cupcake card for Amanda. I have those on the left hand side of my blog; scroll down if you can't see them. Only 27 more cupcake cards to go!
